A Guide to Dieting and Intermittent Fasting

If you are thinking about losing weight and improving your overall health, congratulations. You have already taken a huge step that is going to have a major impact on your life in a positive way. A lot of people think that dieting itself is the hardest thing that they will have to do. But the truth is that making the conscious decision that you are going to get healthier and fitter is far more important. Too many people are content with going on with their regular routine instead of making a big change.

Now that you have decided to make a major change, it is time to see how it can be done. One of the most interesting aspects about dieting is there are so many different options out there. While the principle concept of eating fewer calories than you burn will always exist, you can tweak your diet in so many ways so that you are getting good results out of it. We are going to talk about one of those options today, which is intermittent fasting.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

The whole idea behind intermittent fasting is that you will abstain from eating any calories during a certain part of the week. It can be done in many different methods, which is why a lot of people find intermittent fasting interesting. For instance, you may want to think about intermittent fasting in a way that allows you to eat normally each day, but for a set few hours during the day. Or you can choose a method where you are fasting for one or two days in the week, but eating normally the rest of the time.

Intermittent Fasting Options

There are a fair few options out there when it comes to intermittent fasting. One of the most popular options is where you are fasting for 24 hours, but you only do it one time a week. It is an interesting option as it is one that a lot of people find manageable. They also find that it helps them push their diet to a new level.

Let us say that you are in a position where you are not going to eat anything for 24 hours and you pick Wednesday as the day for such a diet. You may think that since you are off from work on a Wednesday, it is the best day to choose. It is a smart decision. During the other six days, you will eat normally, but with your calorie restriction. Say you eat 1600 calories a day for those six days. At 8 or 9pm on Tuesday, when you are done with your eating for the day, you will start fasting.

Now you cannot eat anything until it is 8 or 9pm on Wednesday. It is your 24 hour fast, where you are only going to drink water, plain tea and plain coffee. No eating, no calorie drinking and no fake sugar drinks either!

We believe the full day fasts are definitely the more intense option when it comes to intermittent fasting. There is always the option of going with a 16:8 intermittent fast. In such a process, you can eat every single day as normal. But what you cannot do is eat for a set number of hours in the day, usually 16 to 18 hours of the day.

With our guide, we hope that we have assisted you in understanding the purpose of intermittent fasting, while showcasing a few intermittent fasting methods you can use for your diet.
